Check out all of the resources from our Diversity and Inclusion Meeting about racism

We had a great meeting on Monday, June 8th, with parents and teachers interested in why and how to teach kids about race. It was led by Mr. Reyes and Principal Hollis. You can view our new committee page here and check out all the amazing resources that we have for everyone that will guide you in your own learning, and teaching about race, equality and injustice.

But PLEASE LET YOUR CLASSROOM TEACHER KNOW THIS WEEK if you need any of these items so we can try to make sure we have enough. Thank you.

School closed For remainder of year.

District Superintendent Austin Beutner has announced that due to COVID-19 and the recommendations of heath officials and the governor, LAUSD will now be closed for the remainder of the school year. We know this is incredibly disappointing, but the health and welfare of all of our students and families are most important. Gardner Street remains committed to providing a quality education for all of our students and will continue to work to ensure everyone has access, connectivity, support and success as we finish the school year from home.

Free meals available!

School may not be in session, but you can still receive two meals a day at any of the 64 area pick up sites. They are open Monday through Friday from 7 am to 11 am and children do not have to be present. The closest two pick up locations are Fairfax High School and Bernstein high school. You can find out more information and the full list of locations here.

Stay connected - help and resources are available!

It’s never been more important than it is now to make sure you’re connected to all of Gardner’s communication outlets. If you’re not yet receiving messaging from your teacher via the Classtag app, or having other tech issues, please email Ms. Vinas and she can help you. If you are not receiving robocalls from the district and Principal Hollis, please contact your child’s teacher to let them know. And if you are receiving this email from your room parent on Classtag, but not from Gardner, please make sure to sign up for emails at the bottom of our school homepage, and check your spam folders to ensure it goes to your inbox.

If your child does not have access to a device at home that can be used to learn virtually, please contact your child’s teacher to find out how to get one. And if you don’t have internet access at home, local providers are now offering free connectivity to LAUSD students. Click on these links for free Comcast or Spectrum service if needed.
